Jungle Theme Baby Shower Cake

Good Evening Ya'll!
I have a few posts for this week and lots of cake to do this week as well soo I might as well get started tonight. So this cake order was from last week. A client of mine referred another client, K who placed an order for a baby shower cake. When I met with K she already had a picture of a cake that is liked for her shower. As some of clients and others know I don't like copying someone's else work directly so I will always take the photo given and make changes to make it my own while still staying in the theme that the client wants. This order was no exception. The picture was of a 2 tier cake that had a jungle theme based on bedding from Fisher Price. The original design was cute but it was covered in white buttercream with the animals in 2D on them. K really liked the 2D looked so I kept that and changed everything else:) Instead of white buttercream, I covered the cake in a light green fondant. I also added a 3D baby giraffe sucking a binkie on top with a palm tree and coconuts. I added all of the animals in 2D that is on the bedding all around the cake. I also placed 2 more trees winding up the cake with more coconuts and vines. I then piped on some buttercream grass and leaves. Lastly I covered the cake drum in more light green fondant. I love how it came out and K was so pleased with the end result. Hopefully I will get a call in about a year for baby's first birthday cake:)

Superbowl Mania!

Good Afternoon Ya'll!
So I was going to post earlier but I decided to wait until the outcome of the Superbowl. Since my hubby and I are from New Jersey, for me by default I am a Giants fan and my hubby is a Giants fan. I really don't watch football (shhh don't tell anyone) I prefer some of the other sports. I can see how people get all excited especially when their team goes to the Superbowl. So of course I had a few orders for some Giants product. Not as many as I thought I would, but since we leave in Baltimore Ravens/Philadelphia Eagles territory I am not that surprised. I especially love when I get free reign on cupcakes..because the possibilities are endless and I love surprising clients with what I can put on a cupcake. So the first order of course was for Giants theme cupcakes.

These cupcakes were 1/2 chocolate and 1/2 carrot flavored with vanilla buttercream. So the toppers I came up with are the foam hands, a field with a football, the Giants logo and the name Giants with a pennant. I think they came out really cute and the different ways I was able to mixed up the color scheme. My client, J, loved them soo much so I am happy.

The next order I had was for a birthday cake for the son of my repeat client, K. She has gotten her mother's birthday cake from me last year and has had a cupcake decorating class with her daughter. So when ever she emails or calls me I get excited cause I know its always going to be something unique she wants. This time she wanted to order a football helmet cake (Giants of course) and some football jersey cookies. I didn't get a chance to take a good picture of the cookies:( but I didn't get a pretty good shot of the cake before I delivered it.
The cake is chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream filling. I made the face mask out of fondant, though I probably should have used gumpaste..but it was all I had on hand. The jersey is of Cruz, her son's favorite player.

So that is it for this week.. but before I go if you like Giants cupcake toppers or another team.. then they will be available for purchase via my Etsy shop today. If you would like another team just let me know and I can create within that color scheme.
Giants Football Cupcake Toppers: $22.00 for 12

Peace & Blessings
